F.A.Q.
Why 1/2" material vs. 3/8" material?
3/8" is simply not enough. We have seen multiple 3/8" skid plates from other brands crack and brake. It also leaves less material to work with on the lap joints making them a potential weak spot compared to a 1/2" skid plate.
Does 1/2" material add more weight compared to an OEM skid plate or even a 3/8" skid plate?
Yes, but it is negligible. The additional protection you get from our skid plates far outweighs the insignificant additional weight, plus if you are going to add any weight to a vehicle you want it as low as possible so that the center of gravity is unaffected or slightly improved.
What are your skid plates made out of?
Rokblokz uses a proprietary blend of High Molecular Weight Polyethylene. We wanted a material that was as slick as possible for gliding over rocks, that offered better impact protection and absorption than UHMW, that was extremely durable, and lighter than aluminum or steel.
