Description
The Eventuri Honda Civic FL5 Type R Black Carbon Intake System is a complete high-flow induction upgrade engineered specifically for Honda's K20C1 turbocharged engine. Building on the architecture developed for the FK8 Type R while taking advantage of the additional packaging space available in the FL5 engine bay, Eventuri redesigned the intake path to increase airflow, control intake temperatures, and improve throttle response without sacrificing everyday drivability.
The factory intake location sits directly behind the radiator, placing the airbox in an area exposed to significant engine-bay heat. To combat heat soak, Eventuri developed a fully sealed pre-preg carbon fiber airbox that isolates the filter from surrounding heat while maintaining a dedicated supply of outside air. This helps provide the turbocharger with a more consistent source of cooler, denser air during repeated acceleration and sustained high-load driving.
Another important area of development was the intake tract itself. The factory flexible hose introduces changes in geometry that can disrupt airflow as demand increases. Eventuri replaces this section with a smooth carbon fiber inlet designed to provide a more direct and consistent airflow path toward the turbocharger. The inlet is engineered to articulate within the airbox, allowing for normal engine movement while preserving the seal between the intake tract and the surrounding engine bay.
At the center of the system is Eventuri's patented carbon fiber Venturi filter housing. The housing creates a controlled transition from the high-flow filter into the intake tube, helping reduce turbulence and maintain airflow velocity as air travels toward the turbo inlet. A bespoke dry performance filter provides increased airflow capacity while retaining ISO-tested filtration performance for long-term engine protection.
Testing demonstrated gains of approximately 14 horsepower and 15 ft-lb of torque, along with sharper throttle response and a more pronounced turbo and induction sound. By combining the sealed carbon airbox, patented Venturi housing, smooth carbon inlet, and high-flow filtration into one coordinated system, Eventuri addresses both airflow restriction and thermal management rather than simply replacing the factory filter assembly.
Manufactured from pre-preg carbon fiber and engineered specifically around the FL5 Type R platform, the Eventuri intake provides measurable performance improvements while creating a substantial visual upgrade within the engine bay. The system can also be combined with additional Eventuri FL5 induction components for owners looking to further develop the airflow path around the K20C1 engine.
